{mosimage}This Eid we had a special trip. You guys know that I love travelling and photography. And I also had a complaint that there are not much of places to move around in UAE.

Recently in a weekly magazine I came across a travel guide and had it safely with me. When we had this Eid holidays for three days, I suggested this place called "Khor Kalba" to my friend Thiru. As usual I, Balaji, Prakash and Thirumalai, all ganged for a trip. I knew that it will be a nice trip but it turned out to be a memorable trip and showed an intresting face of UAE.

We started at 10:30 A.M against planned 9:00 A.M. Fortunately for us the cloudy weather helped us very much. The lighting was excellent through out the day. No harsh sunlight. We had a cool breeze all over the day. The soft lighting helped very much in the photography.

The trip started with typical urban in Sharjah. Then we travelled towards "Kalba" area. We crossed a desert, with long serpentine roads and reddish sand dunes. You can enjoy them in my photo gallery.

Then the scene changed to dark mountains with blackish soil. The road was through so much of ups and downs in steep fashion. Then the roads travelled through a tunnel, which is claimed to be 1.3 kms long, but I don't believe so. After we exited it went through a small yet beautiful residential hamlet. You could find them in photo too.

After that once again we went through another very short tunnel, and exited to find a breath taking view of sea. We found ourselves in top of the hill. The road was very steep and tortuous and quickly led us to a small village called "Kalba". After that we navigated through that roads to reach the mangrove forests there. There was a small children playground.

{mosimage}The water level had dried up considerably and we were bit upset by that. Then we went along in the rough soil for some more distance. It was a junction between sea and the mangroves, because one side we could see the sea and next side there were these mangroves. A barren wide land between them..... something like what we had seen in "Deivam thantha poove...." song from Kannathil muthamittal. We saw a gate some few hundred meters ahead of us and thought it must be some company's gate.

We were making all sort of noises and having so much of fun, a policeman came and asked "Hai... how many fishes did you catch still?". We told nothing, but taking pictures. Actually fishing is prohibhited in that place. He told that gate in Oman, and you are in the sensitive border where many illegal immigrants pass through. So to be on safer side, move further. We immediately moved and there was a large Tamil group having fun there. I didn't miss India, and this is the speciality of U.A.E.

After that we came to Fujairah, by the time it started raining. So we stopped near the beach and had tea and popcorn. Since it was raining we couldnt take photos in the beach area. Since there was no indication of rain stopping in sometime, we packed off and came back to Dubai. Next day we went to Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) at Global Village, which will make for another travelogue in coming days
