I love travelling... infact I wish that I have my feet at every inch of land in the world. That is one reason when I get lost while travelling, I don't feel bad. Instead I feel that "had not this happened, I wouldn't have come to this street, village or road". Very few people understand that craziness. I am a happy traveller but I am most happy when I travel alone.

I may not be the glamorous example of fat to fit, but I represent the 99% common people who feel that they are not looking good enough to fit into the kind of dresses they like. Many times I felt that I should give up my desires to fit in those fitting V-neck T-shirts, boot cut jeans because I felt that I don't have any control on my weight. For past couple of years I had been wearing 34" pants even though my waist was crossing 35" uncomfortably tight in the crotch area and myself trying to keep cool. I even thought of "ageing gracefully" by adding still more weight and shifting to Dhoti's, pyjamas bidding an adieu to my jeans, T-shirts with a sigh.

My niece Dhanya had recently acted in a short film of Girish Sreenivas (http://girishsj.wordpress.com), my brother-in-law Bala's friend. This 6 minute short film is about the importance of speaking one's mother tongue properly. I could see that all the culture conscious art works - Short films, stories are coming from the NRI diaspora only. We, back in India, are busy in aping the west, giving justifications to all the misbehaviours in the name of "modernisation", but I personally had seen the NRIs taking their language, art forms (dance, music and drawings) seriously.

அவர்கள் எதிர்பார்த்தது போலவே அந்த controversy அந்த பத்திரிகையை talk of the town ஆக்கியது.

VIJAYYERCAUD

May 20th - blessed date of my life... Angels always doesn't come flying from sky. Sometimes they come via Gtalk. 6 years ago a wonderful human being came into my life as a friend this day and many times I had felt overwhelmed by his unconditional love and care towards me. He babied me, stood by me in the troubled times and still a support system for me. It is quite unfortunate that my dreams of living closer to him went bust yet I cherish those few months I lived under his care.. E.g He randomly ask me to extend my hand and scratch the back of my palm to check whether I had applied moisturizing cream which he advises to apply during cold. I loved those moments like the kid standing in front of a mother. Yes... it is my dearest friend and super soul Vijayakrishnan Ramadevan who walked into my life this day 6 years ago... Thank you Meera Ramachandran.

We have heard of the term "Abusive relationship" often in the psychological blogs or when the celebrities breakup. But who defines the "abusive relationship"? Do a relationship be termed only when there is physical violence or material loss involved? Does a third party involvement need to term a relationship as "abusive"? Like success, failure, rich, poor, this is also a subjective term. But a simple logic chosen to define anything as abusive is "that hurts the sentiment, self respective or physique of an individual". Going by this logic breaking the trust of a partner is also an abusive action.

How Old Are You

Like any Malayalam movie fan of 1990's, I too waited with a bated breath for the return of THE Manju Warrier and it finally happened after 14 years of her self imposed exile through the movie called "How Old Are You?". I watched it on the FDFS at Coimbatore along with a friend and my initial reaction was mixed. As expected / usual, Manju Warrier was mesmerising but the movie gave a sense of dejavu as the plot was very similar to another veteran SriDevi's comeback movie "English Vinglish (EV)". I happened to see "How Old Are You? (HOAY)" after its DVD release and found that this movie was so unique and more identifiable that EV.

Last week I received the news in the Facebook Newsfeed as I had subscribed in the official page of Manju Warrier in Facebook that she had taken her driving license and the photo taken by some fan in the RTO office was shared in the page. A couple of days before that, there were news of her updating her passport details. For those can't understand why this is a news - Manju Warrier was the last female superstar of Malayalam cinema who called it quits at the age of 19 in 1998 after her sudden marriage with fellow actor Dileep. Her decision to quit the movies came as shock to both the fans as well as the film fraternity which wrote scripts only for her. However Manju's aura remained unaffected and her disappearance from the arc lights even for public functions also created a buzz of mystery around her. She was active in films for only 2-3 years but even after more than a decade, the fans and directors talked about her as if she was a contemporary actress. But Manju was silent and happy being a housewife whose world and meaning of life is just her husband and 2 kids.
