When Sathyan Anthicaud introduced a new heroine opposite to Kunchacko Boban in his 2001 Vishu release "Narendran Magan Jayakanthan Vaga", he wouldn't have expected that he is going to contribute majorly to Tamil & Telugu cinema with his protegee. The cute starlet was Asin ( Jollu:- Asin means "impeccable", but logically she must have been named as Haseen, which means beautiful in Hindi), but it was Samyukta Varma with an author backed role of a village president who walked away with all accolades leaving Asin in despair. Fortunately metro brought up Asin was quick enough to realise that she has no place in Malayalam film industry where there is an unwritten law that the heroines must be too docile. Asin went on to do modelling for AVT Tea replacing Heera Rajagopal in "vaangittengala..vaangitteengala..?", Aircell and Hayagreeva Silks (How does he know that I like this colour?...... with Vijay Adhiraj).
Andhra media started raving her and elevated her to the league of Savithri. Asin has managed to dislodge the then ruling No.1 of Telugu Cinema Arthi Agarwal. ( Jollu:- Asin's plus point is not only she can look glamourous without stripping but also her ability to emote well ) May be due to this she is doing the remake of NTR - Savithri starrer "Narthanashala", reprising the role played by Savithri in the original. Asin's contribution towards her mother state Kerala is that she had brought a good reputation to Malayalee girls. It is only after the success of Kalyani (Kaveri in Tamil), and Asin, now Tollywood film makers are opting for more and more Mallu girls. Now almost all Malayalam heroines including Renuka Menon (with Akash in Anandham Anandhamayi), Meera Jasmine (with Pawan Kalyan), Gopika (Telugu versions of Azhagi & Autograph), Mallika (Autograph) and Nandhana are doing Telugu movies right now.
Having establishing herself in Andhra Pradesh, now Asin has got best of projects in both Tamil & Telugu including the remake of Kakka Kakka in Telugu opposite to Venkatesh. Asin is the new flavour among the Tamil heroes. She is doing movies with Surya (Chennayil or Mazhaikkalam), Ajith (Mirattal), "Jeyam" Ravi (remake of Amma Nana Oka Tamil Ammayi) and her backlog "Ullam Ketkume" is finally seeing the lights. Already Andhra media is wrting reams and reams about the professional rivalry between Trisha and Asin and it is sure to continue in Tamil also.
I have been a fan of Asin the day I saw her in the Hayagreeva Silks advertisement. I am sure you guys also will love her on screen. ( Jollu:- Asin is consolidating the fact that Mallu girls are the real beauties.) Admitted I haven't seen much of Asin's work except her debut movie "Narendran Magan Jayakanthan Vaga" and few commercials, but I am eagerly looking forward to see more of Asin in coming days. What drew me towards Asin is her homely yet modern beauty which every guy would love to take home to his mother.
Jollu:- Move away Meera, Trisha and Jyothika.... Asin is here with a bang!!!!
