Mala Jau de

It seems that Vidya Balan who started shedding her inhibitions from "Ishqiya", after playing demure and coy roles in her earlier movies, seems to have got rid of whatever little inhibitions were left during the making of "The Dirty Picture". Result is the new spunky Vidya brimming with all energy and vigour, the image which the film makers want to cash on.

This girl, who was once criticized as "stiff and wooden" when it comes to dance, had the potential to go on a world tour with her "Ooh! La! La!" had gone ahead and did her first "item number" in her mentor Vidhu Vinod Chopra's production "Ferrari Ki Safaari". VVC who always swims against the tide had (re)introduced the marathi "laavni" as an "item number". Vidya (and music director Pritam) had done a wonderful job with this song "Mala Jau de... (Let me go)"... Her hardwork to break the "non dancer" image is yielding best results with a rigorous rehearsal along with authentic Laavni troup from Kohlapur. I really enjoyed this number as much as I did with other recent item numbers like "Chikni Chameli" and "Anarkali Disco Chali".
