Are you afraid of dark?I came to know much later that this was the last novel of Sudney Sheldon before his demise. 'AYAOF' starts of well with four different murders leaving the protagonists devasted. All the murders seam to have a common thread pointing towards the organisation the victims worked for - KIG. Two widows of the victims - Kelly Mark and Diane Stevens have their path crossed accidentally but find themselves as target in the prowling claws of the murderer. Till the halfway, SS manages to hold your attention well but this time Sheldon doesn't bother to maintain the suspense. Instead he lays the thread of the whodunit yarn bare and later the novel turns to be on run. Then the novel becomes so predictable and unintentionally funny with the so called powerful 'villians' reducing themselves to a comedy stock. After a while the 'run' of Diane & Kelly becomes stale. At this point it reminds you a lot of SS's other novels - "If Tommorrow Comes", "The sky is falling" etc. However the saving grace of this novel is that it tried to get into the emotional domain of the widows and it works except for Ms. Reynold's episode. It might have been good if SS's other novels were not read but defintely not a worthy swan song for Sidney Sheldom. - {oshits} reads.
